DRAKKAR: an international research network
Drakkar is not an acronym: it is the French name for the Viking ships, chosen because our scientific interests were initially focussed on the Northern subpolar Atlantic basins. The network focus is to coordinate global high resolution simulations based on the NEMO modelling platform and their scientific analysis. A meeting is organized every year by Julien le Sommer and Thierry Penduff in Grenoble, with the help of an international scientific committee. A presentation of the network is found in a special issue of Clivar Exchanges, 65, july 2014, on high resolution climate modelling: "DRAKKAR: developing high resolution ocean components for European Earth system models" The DRAKKAR 2014-2017 report is here A presentation regarding global eddy permitting modelling was published in Clivar exchanges, vol 12, 2007: "Eddy-permitting Ocean Circulation Hindcasts Of Past Decades" by the Drakkar Group. |
